Mike's Birthday

We went down to Carradale beach and then got some food and drove on to Southend beach (near Mull of Kintyre) which was almost deserted - so we had a little picnic and a paddle and watched the seals swimming - came home in in the evening and Mike made a cake for us in the Aga, very nice!!

Mike arrived for a week...

We went back to Skipness, we like it there, and visited the Seafood Cabin. It was roasting hot. Mike had fish fingers and I had queenies (scallops) - same as last time except they weren't serving brown bread and butter this time which was a shame as it really needed that. Anyway, it was lovely. The hens still peck around as you eat. Didn't see the cats this time, they were probably in the shade somewhere.

Gigha

This was my first trip to this lovely island - we went for Rosie's birthday. The beaches were just gorgeous - white, clean sand. The Boathouse pub served us a wonderful selection of cider and fresh scones and our trip to Achamore Gardens was fantastic. I carted back a pelargonium as a reminder which is now blooming in the garden.

Abi and the kids visited for a couple of days.

The kids loved Port Ban where they could play in the park there, mess around on the beach and in the river and have lunch at the cafe.
They loved staying in one of the holiday cottages, playing on the swings there, making friends.

Crinan

I love this place - Crinan - it's something about watching the boats go through the locks at the end of the Crinan Canal and sail away into the Atlantic.
